A passion for quality. This is what drove the young cooper-brewer Jérôme Hatt to try and create a fine beer in the 17th century. In 1664 he opened a barrel of one of his brews and at once knew he was going to make history. Hatt settled in the French Alsace, where he set up a brewery in Kronenbourg. The brewery gradually grew into France’s largest. The 1664 brand is the top product of the range. 1664 has become internationally famous. In 1952 the '1664' lager was first drawn in its current guise, when it was launched ceremoniously on the occasion of the enthronement of Queen Elizabeth. A classy statement. The luxury lager has not lost anything of its international allure. Alken-Maes, as part of an international brewery group, gives 1664 the place it deserves in the Benelux.

The unique use of 100 % pure malt, carefully brewed, gives Kronenbourg 1664 its typically mild and balanced flavour. This golden lager has a firm head and a refreshing mixed-fruit aroma with hints of yeast and hops.

Serving hints:

• Store the bottle in a cool place (2 to 4°C)
• Empty the full contents of the bottle into a degreased, rinsed and wet glass, making sure the bottle does not touch the foam.
• Allow to overflow a little and remove excess foam.
• Rinse the bottom of the glass, dip dry, and serve on an appropriate coaster accompanied by the bottle.
