Optimal functioning
The brewery group Alken-Maes stands for efficient work. In 1999, it was the first Belgian company to pocket the strict ISO 9001:2000-norm for its well-controlled administrative and operational procedures, awarded by SGS International Certification Services EESV.

Quality Guarantee
With the ISO 9001:2000-certificate for its industrial processes, Alken-Maes upholds strict standards in order to guarantee the quality and security of its products and services.

Certified Royal Warrant Holder
Alken-Maes, which had been delivering beer to the court for over 10 years and is renowned for the quality of its products and services, was granted a Royal Warrant in 1998.

Social engagement

• Alken-Maes forms part of the Arnoldus group, the Association of Belgian Beer Brewers for Responsible Alcohol Use. In cooperation with the Belgian Institute for Traffic Safety, Alken-Maes also supports the BOB-campaign (BOB is a sympathetic driver who takes everyone home safely).
• Alken-Maes contracts out some of their work such as the pre-packaging of displays to a sheltered workshop.
• Alken-Maes Breweries also supports the project "business life education", which implies guiding underprivileged youngsters and coaching motivated teachers.

Environmental Engagement

• Alken-Maes Breweries has its own water treatment plants. With these installations for water purification Alken-Maes shoulders its responsibility for the environment and positively invests in the environment.
• Since 1999 the brewery in Jumet has been the proud owner of a 14 001 certificate. This is a certificate for an environmental protection system that guarantees an environmental friendly approach of the local production process.
• As a result of the strict checks imposed by Alken-Maes the brewery was one of the first to receive the mandatory GMP or Good Mixed Food Practice certificate. The certificate confirms that Alken-Maes carries out sufficient government-approved in-house checks to ensure the quality of the beer produced.

Deontological Code
In order to protect the beer culture’s image and ensure an optimal profitability, Alken-Maes, as a member of the Confederation of Belgian Breweries, subscribes to a deontological code.
